Airbnb Welcome Message Examples: Booking to Check-Out

By Master Modules Hosting editorial team · Updated

Before and after of a host setup with ready-to-send guest messages

A good welcome message is warm, short and useful: a greeting, the one thing the guest needs to know next, and an invitation to ask questions. Below are examples for each stage of a stay. Replace the brackets, keep your own voice and send them from your phone or a template.

Tone tips

Keeping messages consistent

Keep all your messages in one document so you can copy and adjust them. Update the details when something changes. Add a line of local color to each message to make it personal. Link to your welcome book and your check-out instructions rather than repeating them.

Ready-made helpers

The Stayworks Host Kit includes a printable welcome book and a digital welcome guide to link in your messages, check-out and welcome signs, and a toolkit web app with message templates for common situations. A separate set of 50 guest message scripts is available as an optional add-on at checkout. The kit is $19.00 one time.

Quick checklist

Frequently asked questions

When should I send the welcome message?

Send a short thank-you right after the booking, practical details a few days before arrival, a check-in message on the day, and a check-out reminder the evening before departure.

How long should messages be?

Short enough to read on a phone in half a minute. Put the most important details first.

Should I use automated messages?

They save time, but personalize them with the guest's name and a detail from the booking.

What should I never put in a message?

Passwords in the first message before the guest has booked, anything that breaks platform rules and long rule lists.
